Trip and wedding sewing done!

I finished up the pillowcase dress and another pair of matching bloomers for my youngest girl, along with another pair of shorts in the same pattern. They are just two piece pants, which means they are fast. They don't fit as well as they would if they had a back yolk, etc., but they worked for quick pants. They fit over either kind of diaper, so I am happy. The pillowcase dress (made according to rowena's directions) was a breeze to make and she loves it. I am sure I have more fabric around to make her another one...one yard of 45" cotton made the bloomers and the dress for my 18 month old.

I made two eye spy type bags. I didn't end up with the full alphabet, since I was trying to do it at the last minute, and I ended up using a lot of craft buttons from Joanns. It was a pain to sew the vinyl to the fleece. I think that next time I will leave the vinyl the same size as the fleece squares. Then I can sew it upside down and the stretching may not be as much of a problem. I used rice as filler. I can see why they use the beads, it would be a lot lighter. Of course, after I did all that last minute work, the kids slept most of the car ride, so I didn't pull them out!

I went to the first wedding of the season yesterday. I ended up buying a maternity dress from Ann Taylor on super clearance. It was long sleeved, but that was easy to remedy! Even an 8 was a bit large, though it fit nicely across the bust, so I took a few tucks in the under bust seam. It makes it a bit thick, but it lets the extra fullness release nicely. I do need to fix a few strange gathers of the mock wrap part, but didn't have time before we left, lol! I did it all by hand, so that I can let it out if I need to. It turned out very cute and left me plenty of time and money to go bra shopping instead. I now own a bra that fits relatively well. If I purchased all the new items I wore at retail, I would have spent $130 or more! Instead I spent less than a quarter of the price.
