Now that I have a cleared off sewing table (and before I start doing useful things, like mending!) I am plotting out my fall sewing. I just ordered Ottobre 2/2008, the woman's issue that has a few maternity patterns that I want to try out. They are far more stylish than the patterns from the big three...most of which haven't published anything new since I last bought maternity patterns, and still have a few patterns from two pregnancies ago...I want to make #17, the shirt with the shirred sides, and probably will make #16, since I really like my long skirts, but Michigan winters aren't exactly warm! I want to make a couple skirts and shirts to coordinate with what I have currently.
I also splurged and bought a kit for a Waldorf style baby doll for my current nursling who will be 2 at Christmas. I want her to have a soft baby that can go everywhere with her! I went ahead and ordered a premade head, since that was one problem I have when trying to make smaller dolls. I want this one to go together relatively quickly. I can make her baby an outfit to match the real baby we will have at our house shortly after Christmas.
I am debating the wisdom of a big kid doll for my 6 year old. She wants an American Girl doll, but I am very sure that she won't be getting one for a couple years at least! I am considering a Target Our Generation doll and sewing some outfits as "practice" for the real deal, but I am not sure if she is coordinated enough to put the clothes on herself. I guess I should have her find the clothes that belong on the baby dolls that are strewn around the house and see how she does!
